PYJAMA DRAMA - Caroline
Hi, my name is Caroline, I have a BA Hons degree in Drama and Theatre Studies and have been teaching Pyjama drama for the past 15 years. During this time I have seen how important drama and imaginative play is in helping to develop young children’s life skills; in particular confidence, communication and concentration.
I love the escapism that drama brings and believe that Pyjama Drama’s unique mix of drama, movement, music and play is ideal for bringing out the best in every child.
I look forward to meeting your little ones and taking them on magical adventures inspired by their own imaginations.
BALLET – Becci
Our ballet lessons are designed to work on co-ordination, gross and fine motor skills in a fun, creative and imaginative way. Each week we warm up our bodies, work on stretching our backs, legs and feet, as well work on fine motor skills with our ballet arms and hand positions. Then we embark on an adventure story which is different each week, based on fairy tales, and popular children's books or different celebrations throughout the year. We skip, gallop, jump, and hop our
way through the story, using our imaginations and helping the characters along
the way. We finish each lesson by colouring in a picture of our adventure with
our pencil toes and our curtsey and bows to say thank you for the lesson.
SPORT – Elliot
Active Little Angels has designed a year-long syllabus which covers all the major sports including Tennis, Football, Hockey, Cricket, Rounders, Golf, Basketball, Athletics, Rugby, Dodgeball and Handball. Emphasis is on key motor skills, balance, spacal awareness, coordination and movement. These classes are for the over threes because by then their muscles should be ready to support the increase in movement required by our activities. The nursery holds a successful sports day at the end of the academic year which all children, parents and teachers love.
SPARKLE – Church led
We are lucky to have an intergenerational gathering once a week in the church where the pre-school children interact with some of the older members of the community through art activities, singing and games. The children develop communication skills, confidence and empathy whilst the older people benefit from interaction to reduce isolation and loneliness leading to an improvement in their health and well-being. As Sparkle state “it is a win-win for everyone”. Sticky Fingers children really enjoy these sessions and look forward to seeing their “grandfriends” each week.
